Aiyu Japan is pleased to announce that we can now arrange international shipments from Japan to the United States with prepaid customs duties.
From now on, when a customer submits an international shipping request, the applicable import duties will be calculated and paid in advance together with the international shipping fee. This provides a more structured, transparent, and predictable process before the package leaves Japan.
As a general reference, most imports into the United States are currently subject to an approximate 10% ad valorem surcharge under the global Section 122 framework, effective from February 24, 2026. However, the final duty amount may vary depending on the product category, material composition, declared value, and customs classification. (Federal Register)
Certain product categories are currently subject to special tariff rates:
- Copper and copper-related products: up to 50% for semi-finished copper products, including wires, pipes, rods, sheets, tubes, and certain electrical components. (The White House)
- Steel and aluminum products: up to 50%, subject to the applicable U.S. import regulations. (Federal Register)
- Automobiles and selected auto parts: up to 25% for passenger vehicles, light trucks, and certain auto parts, including engines, transmissions, powertrain parts, and electrical components. (Federal Register)
- Specially regulated categories: some products may be excluded, treated differently, or require additional review depending on their HTS classification and U.S. import rules.
Additionally, for products valued above 10,000 yen, Zonos Prepay will apply a Clearance and Processing Fee of 706 yen.
Before confirming each shipment, Aiyu Japan will review the product details in order to estimate the applicable costs and provide customers with a more accurate reference for the total amount due.
