New Customs Duty Structure for Shipments to the United States
Aiyu Japan would like to inform customers that U.S. customs duty calculations for postal shipments will change beginning July 24, 2026.
The temporary 10% Section 122 surcharge will expire. Customs duties will instead be calculated according to each product’s HS code, country of origin, material, declared value, and applicable U.S. tariffs.
As a result, some products may be charged prepayment tax 10% of the value, while others may be subject to higher rates. (12.5% or 15%)
The requirement to prepay customs duties for qualifying Japan Post shipments (EMS) will remain in place. The prepaid duty threshold for postal shipments will increase from USD 800 to USD 2,500.
Aiyu Japan will calculate the applicable customs duties once the package has been prepared. Customers will receive a separate invoice for the customs duties and processing fee, which must be paid before dispatch.
